With a busy life, the mess and time it takes to do at-home tooth whitening hardly seems worth the effort. Yet, you want a bright, healthy-looking smile and are tired of how dark and stained your teeth have become over the years.
Why not try Zoom! chairside tooth whitening? Performed by your dental professional right in the dental chair, Zoom! whitening improves the color of teeth by as much as eight shades, and it does so safely and quickly - in about 1 hour. This innovative, simple process removes years of discoloration and stains from:
- red wine, coffee, tea and cola
- simple aging
Here's How Zoom! Works
When the dentist or hygienist determines by oral examination that a patient is a good candidate for Zoom! whitening, the patient and technician both don protective eyewear. This adds an extra measure of safety from the hydrogen peroxide gel and special Zoom!light that are used during the whitening procedure. Measures are also taken to cover the lips and gums during the whitening process.
The technician then applies the proprietary whitening gel to the surface of the teeth, allowing it to penetrate the enamel and the deeper tooth layer called dentin. While the gel is being absorbed, the key peroxide ingredient is activated by the special Zoom! light. After 15 minutes, more gel is applied and activated. Finally, a third 15-minute application is completed. These sessions total 45 minutes during which the patient can read or watch TV. Then, the dentist or hygienist applies fluoride to the teeth to reduce sensitivity.
Living With Your Newly Zoom! Whitened Teeth
After the visit, the patient uses at-home whitening trays periodically to maintain the beautiful, bright color of the teeth. In addition, the dentist will recommend that dental hygiene proceed as usual with twice daily brushing and everyday flossing. Also, he or she will advise no smoking and limiting foods that cause stains.
With minimal touch-up, Zoom! whitening will last indefinitely. While Zoom! is great for a vast majority of adult patients, women who are pregnant, children or anyone with extensive restorations such as veneers and crowns are not candidates for this cosmetic procedure.
